Do we need a visa for Japan or Korea if we are landing there to catch a flight to the US? I have never traveled outside of the US.So, I think we have a stop over in Japan or Korean when we return to the US.

If you just connect your flight at the airport in Janpan or Korea, you don't need the visa to Japan.
