About:Beijing Travel

A few questions for anyone on my trip to Beijing Oct 3-8 which is holiday in China.
1. Arriving at 8pm on Sat night PEK, is it safe to take public transportation or take taxi or prearranged limo for a woman?
2. Is Millennium Hotel in chaoyang District a good hote,location,safe?
3. There will be celebration for Beijing, where can I find schedules or activities to plan attending or places to avoid?
4. Great Wall - which "wall" is best and not as commerical but still scenic and peaceful? Waht is the best way to prearrange car and guide for tour outside of Beijing?

1.no problem taking a airport shuttle bus to downtown at 8pm, if you'll take a taxi, make sure with the driver what's the price.
2.I have no experience on this one
3.national day celebration activities usually held on Tiananmen square, but during the whole 7 days, Beijing will be crowded with local people and tourists.
4.the most famous section is badaling, also the most crowded. less famous but also beautiful one is Mutianyu.If you want to prearrange guide or car, chech for this website, they may have such services.

Can one take tourist bus from Beijing (Jinbao St) to Mantianyu Great Wall? Planning to do this on Oct 3, 2009. How can I check bus schedules and boarding locations? Thank you

Get to Xuanwumen, Dongsishitiao, Dongzhimen and Gongzhufen stops in the city center to take Tourist Bus Line 6 (6:30am-8:30am) to Mutianyu Greatwall direct. Or get to Xizhimen Railway Station to catch special tourist train to Beizhao Station and take a taxi to the great wall after getting off the train. The Line 6 only runs in weekends and statutory holidays.
