We have joined the Princess cruise to explore several countries in South East Asia in October. The embarkation port is Beijing.(Xingang) After doing some researches, We discovered that Xingang is actually a port in Tianjin. We have the following questions and hope that somebody could kindly help
a. We will arrive at Beijing around Oct 1, will it be very difficult to book a budget hotel(we understand that it's the national day)
b. How difficult it will be to travel from Beijing to Xingang with 2 mid-size baggages. From Beijing south to Tianjin railway station by bullet train - do they allow baggages? How far is Xingang port away from the railway station and what kind of transportation is recommended and how much will it cost ?
c. The cruise starts on 5th October, We may arrange to stay a day or two in Tianjin. Is it worthwile to do so ?
Bear in mind that we are not young at all and could not afford to walk a lot. Are there city tour and how to book in advance ?

We do speak some mandarin and should have no problem communicating with local people.
