About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

Hello: My sister and I, both Canadian citizens, would like to travel to China and visit her son, who works there. We will be staying with him and travelling to Beijing, then Shanghai. We are retired Air Canada employees and will be travelling on an airline pass, space available. How do we fulfill the requirement to have a copy of an return airline ticket and a copy of a hotel booking? Thank you.

You may present proof of emplyment or retirement to substitute your air tickets.
As for the hotel booking, you can also ask your sister's son in China to provide an invitation letter for you instead.
