About:Asian Dragon Bay

I am thinking of going to Sanya and Haikou during chinese new year period 2010, most likely on the 1st day or 2nd day of the new year. Will the shops be opened and will they charge more for food/taxis etc?

Off course shops are open. That is the high season to travel there. The same in other cities, most of shops are still opened during the festival. Fare for taxi would not change, you can ask for metering. Food and expenses on accomodation will cost more than low season.
