About:Chinese Embassy in U.K.

I am flying into Beijing from Singapore, connecting straight on a flight to Shanghai and then flying to Toronto. This is all on the same day. When I check the star alliance website it says that I do not need a transit visa as its within 24 hours. Is this correct?

Yes, you don't need a visa at Beijing if you won't move out of the airport.
