About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I am an American studying in Shanghai for the summer. I am studying in Shanghai for the fall as well, but was planning on getting 2 separate visas, as they are 2 seperate programs. Would I be able to get a student visa in Hong Kong, or must I have a residency permit there?

For student visa, you'd better apply for it in your home country which will be easier. However, you can try to contact the HK SAR for exact answer.
