About:Shanghai Travel

hHi I have just joined the site i am going to be in shanghai in july we are staying at the Holiday Inn Vista and we like street markets and shopping all sorts of gifts required i want to know of the best area to shop in i need toys and assorted gifts for presents not exspensive stuff so the name of were we can taxi to and the street names would be of a great help and can you give rough cost of taxi from hotel to the markets and are tey at night or all day this is first time we will have ever been thanks for all your help in this matter.

i think Yu garden (Yu Yuan) would be a good choice to buy gifts. there is not many street markets in shanghai now. 1.Qi pu road market is for cheap clothes, but dont think that's a good place to go. 2. Xin Le road is another shopping area located in central shanghai, off Huai Hai road, for clothes (top brand with a discount price, dont know if that's fake or not)3.sometimes, you can try the underground market, around people square (the central of shanghai, metro Line 1, 2 and 8)
but please remeber bargain is necessary!
about the taxi price, wont cost you lots of money compare with UK, and most of the drivers are nice and helpful. but please consider the traffic situation!
