About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

Hi, I have a question for obtaining a work (Z) visa. I am a German citizen residing in Canda, so I would like to apply for my visa at the embassy in Ottawa. I plan to work in China for one year, starting September 2009. The embassy website states:

Z-Visa is valid for 3 months for a single entry with no specified duration of stay. One is obliged to apply for residence permit at the local public security bureau within a month after entering China.

Does that mean that I can undergo the required medical exam after arriving in China, when I apply for extending my stay? If not, could you please let me know how to obtain a medical check (I live in Montreal), is there a list of certified physicians or can I go to any family doctor? What is the fastest way to do this? Do I need to get a visa for 12 months or can I follow the procedure described above - to get a single entry visa for three months and then extend my stay?

Thank you very much.

NO, you have to provide the physical examination certificate for foreigners when applying the visa. You can call the visa office of the Chinese embassy in Canada to enquire about the authorized
hospitals by the phone number 1-613-7893434 between 09:00 and 13:00 from Monday-Friday (except Chinese holidays).
You should follow the instructions of the visa application on the embassy website.
