After my Beijing trip, I plan to visit Chengde, or should I visit Xitang. Which one is better?

If I were to visit Xitang, can I take a bus from shanghai pudong airport all the way to Xitang? How long is the bus journey? Is taking the bus the quickest way to Xitang?

If I were to visit Chengde, how long is the bus journey and how much does it cost? Are there announcements in the bus on where to get off upon arriving in Chengde? So many questions… Who can help me??

Dear Philomena

I don't think there are any routine bus from Beijing Airport to Chengde, as it will take around 4 hours from Beijing ~ Chengde. Besides, tourist always make trip to Chengde with a stop visit to Simatai Great Wall or Jianshaling Great Wall enroute.
The one day tour from Beijing city to Chengde from 07:30 am ~ 21:00 pm cost around RMB1,200 per person start from 2 persons. The one taxi from Beijing Airport to Chengde cost around RMB1,300 per trip.
It will be better that you arrange a 3D2N trip for Chengde to enjoy the trip.
I don't have any idea if any bus leaving from Pudong Airport to Xitang, but a taxi will be definitely better as the bus will take several stops on its way.
