You need a Chinese L visa for your entry into China. Submit the following the documents:
1. An actual passport with at least six months validity left( and one blank visa page left)
2. A passport-style photo affixed to a completed application form
3. Return tickets and confirmed hotel reservation
4. Bank statements of your recent 3 months

Mr Neal, you need to find a designated travel agency to apply on your behalf. The bank statement may not be required.
