About:Chinese Embassy in Singapore

We are a Canadian family (2 adults, 2 children) who are currently in India. We will be in SIngapore for 3 days on our way to to visit my brother who lives in Beijing. We tried to get visas for China before we left Canada but we were told that it was too far in advance (7 months). Our Indian friends think that we will not be able to get Chinese visas here in India. We are hoping that we will be able to get Chinese visas while we are in Singapore. Is this possible? What documentation do we need (we have the visa forms, photos, a letter of invitation from my brother and proof of his visa)? Thank you!

It is possible that you acquire Chinese visas at the China embassy in Singapore. Besides the basic required documents(passports, photo, application form), a Singapore visa or residence permit is also needed.

But as Canadians we don't need visas to visit SIngapore - so we don't have any. Does this mean we won't be able to get Chinese visas in Singapore?

Do you have a temporary residence permit there? If you don't, could you acquire a residence permit? A residence permit is also okay for your application. As I know, at least you should one of the two said documents. Maybe there are some execeptions. You can go to the consulate and talk to the visa officers.

By "temporary residence permit" do you mean the 30-day Visitor's Pass that gets stamped in your passport when you arrive? Since we are only going to be in Singapore for 3 days, I can't imagine anyone giving us any kind of residence permit - even temporary!
