About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

HI
I am currently in Thailand and travel to Hong Kong on 21st April. I was thinking about going to see friends in Guangzhou for a couple of days, travelling by train. Do I need a visa to enter mainland China? I have both an Australian and British passports? If so, where can I apply and how much
