Hi Ms. Rita,
I'm going to assume that you're asking me. You should find that the temperature gets colder during your time here. The coldest period on average in Hong Kong is Jan 31 - Feb 4 (Chinese New Year time usually) when the average temp range is 12.8c-17.3c and the mean temp is 14.8c. The time that you are talking about, Jan 20 - 25, the temp range is 14c-19.1c and the average temp is 16.2c. You will find it noticeably colder than any of those other places you travel to. But the sun in HK always shines pretty brightly and when it's out during the afternoon, the temperature can get as high as 24 celcius, which of course is t-shirt wearing weather. The skies should get cloudier during your stay but expect about 5 hours of sunshine every day which is quite reasonable. The days in HK in winter aren't painfully short but they are noticeably shorter than in summer so keep that in mind too. Keep in mind that it can also get chilly when there's a strong northerly wind. The temperature in winter can sometimes range between 10c-15c on a colder day so you should take this into account. The wind can also make it feel colder than what the temperature actually is. You may get one day where the minimum temperature dips to the single digits and you may even get a day where the temperature STAYS in the single digits all day (but the latter are exceptionally rare). The coldest it's ever been at the HK Observatory was 0 celcius and on that day the temperature range was 0 to 7.7 celcius but I think this was probably recorded wrong and should be 10-17.7. But anyway. Also note that on some days, the temperature can drop through the day (i.e. is lower at noon and in the evening than it is during the morning). Also remember that visibility is Hong Kong is a bit of a problem and in January it is usually limited by smog particles. January is also the driest month. Hope this helps.

I would say bring some singlets and lightweight jumpers. HK can definately get uncomfortably cold by anyone's standards. You'll find that the locals wear what seems to be pretty over the top clothing but you'll know why they do this if you experience a cold day. It's a bit irritating cos the temperature could be as low as 9 celcius or as high as 24 so... If it's a cold day, make sure you where two jumpers and strip off if you need to. If it's pleasantly warm, then you'll only need a light jumper for when it does get cool at night. Cool is what would most accurately decribe HK winters. It's usually not cold. Temperatures usually stay in the teens through the whole day.

Cool the most accurate description of a HK winter. Temperatures usually stay in the teens the whole day. They may, however, go as low as 9 celcius and as high as 24. Bring some singlets for the colder days and be prepared to strip off when the sunshine comes out in the afternoon on the warmer days. The daily temperature variation over the majority of HK is only a few degrees everyday. This means if it's a cold day it'll most likely stay cold and if it's warm it should stay warm.
