no need for a visa. just hop in the train (MTR) straight to Shenzhen, there the immigration will stamp your passport for entry to China as a tourist.

Prior to the Beijing Olympics, tourists wouldn't need to get a visa to cross to China from HK. However, now, you do. I live in HK, and I still need a visa to go to Shenzhen. Visa applications to China in HK take 4 days on a regular application, 2 days on an express one.
