About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

Hello,
Currently I am living in China on a 12 month, multiple entry tourist visa, with a 60 day "duration of stay". I am currently in the process of trying to get a Z visa for my new job, but it looks like I won't have it in time before my 60 days is up.

Is there any way to extend my current duration of stay or somehow avoid going to Hong Kong to re-enter China? It's such an expense and hassle to go there. If I had another 60 days, I think it would be enough to obtain my new visa. Anyone have any suggestions?

You can extend your stay in China by applying for a residence permit at the local public security bureau.
