About:Chinese Embassy in Malaysia

My friend is a Malaysian currently holding a UK study visa which is due to expire in October. She wants to travel to China in May but the Chinese Embassy in UK informed her that they can only issue her a visa to travel to China for the month of April. Is there any way to solve this problem? Her passport expires in year 2013

What's explanation from the Embassy? Maybe, she can apply for a visa in April. It's a weird case.
