Because the funeral is another ceremony eaqul as birth in China. And our ancestor believed they could rebirth after they dead.So they were burried with lots of treasures similar to Anakaris.Qin Shi Huang was a very conceited emperor,so he had his mausoleum so huge that we cannot find his main tomb.

Further to Ms Chen's comment, our ancestors were an obedient lot. Even today we still honour and respect our elderly. That's lesson number 1 at age 5. This is a great part of our culture. In return the young receive their wisdom and guidance.

The reason why his tomb was never found as you surely know is that his funeral was too elaborative due to our believe in the afterworld which we still do today during chingmin festival. Besides soldiers and horses, his barren concubines and advisors followed him to the afterworld too.

We found his tomb by accident recently. There are many more to be discovered near Beijing but surely nothing like in Xi'an, i think.
