I have current prices for both Snow and Ice as well as Sun Island.
Snow and Ice sculptures - made of ice and at night lit up by LED. Entry fee 150 RMB (yuan).
Sun Island - sculptures made of snow --- as of January 2, some are still under construction. Entry fee 120 RMB (yuan).
3. Do not forget to go around the city --- if you take a look in front of Shangri-La hotel there is a Disney characters sculpture made of Ice! Right beside the sidewalk.
4. Tour or no tour? As many places all over the city are easily accessible by walking or riding the local buses. 1 or 2 RMB (yuan) depending on the bus. I chose no tour as I had time. If you have very limited time, days, then take a tour with a private guide and bus. If you can take your time, be sure to do it on your own. Also go to the river and do some strolling. You can watch them cutting the blocks of ice and loading them onto trucks to build / maintain the displays.
5. Be very careful walking on the sidewalks or streets, covered in ice and easy to slip. The ground where people walk is suitable for a good pair of shoes, so no need for boots unless you want traction on your feet!
6. Do not buy beer inside the Snow and Ice sculptures unless you are willing to shell out 40 RMB (yuan).
There are very many reasonable hotels in Harbin easy to access all of the above. My hotel is 108 RMB (yuan) per night with unlimited high speed internet, modern clean room, comfortable hotel. Name of hotel is not posted as this site was not used to book it.
As for skiing, Yabuli ski resort is not too far from Harbin, and it is the number 1 ski resort in China! Good prices, updated equipment. Sorry I do not have current prices as that is not part of this trip for
