Tourism Visa

Do I need to apply for a tourist visa if I fly from the United States of America to Hong Kong for 1 night then fly to Hainan for 2 weeks,then fly to Beijing for 2 days and fly back to the United States?

You don't need a visa if you fly back to US without a layover in Hong Kong.
