About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling from Brisbane with transit in Guangzhou

Hi we’re travelling from Brisbane to Beijing on an Australian Passport with a lay over of 15 hours before we fly onto another country. Do we need to apply for an entry permit and a 24 hour visa?

TG, Australian citizens can enter, stay, explore mainland China absolutely visa free for up to 30 days. Consequently they are no more subject of 24/240 visa free transit and temporary entry permits/rules. Basically, your entry/exit to/from China is more or less the same as if you were traveling to UK. You will fill out arrival card upon landing or before your departure through the official website of National Immigration Administration and upon landing you will perform fingerprinting at automatic fingerprinting machine. No more 24/240 hour visa free counter and temporary entry permits for Australians. If you do not plan to exit the airport, you can remain airside and in that case you do not have to perform any formality nor will you be a subject of immigration and customs inspections. Have a nice visit to China.
