Travel to Shenzen for work

Hi, I am travelling from the UK to Shenzen for work. I would like to stay for 1 week. What is the best way to do this - VOA or 140hour visa? I am going to visit a factory there. If they send me an invitation do I still require a visa?

Thank you in advance.

John, since you are UK citizen you do not need any kind of visa. UK citizens can enter, stay and explore mainland China (Shenzhen included) for up to 30 days visa free. Also, since you will not work for a salary (I assume), but to have some meetings, making contracts or similar, you do not need any kind of visa. It is important to understand that 240 hour visa free transit and/or Shenzhen VOA are not applicable to UK citizens since they can enter mainland China visa free. You can consider your 1 week stay in Shenzhen as if you were traveling to Netherlands, for example. Have a nice visit to Shenzhen/China.

Thank you. Can I ask - if I fly to Hong Kong then get a train into Shenzen, will I need a visa for HK?
Thank you again

No visa is needed for UK citizens. They do not need a visa for any single part of China, Shenzhen and Hong Kong included. You can freely travel between the two by train, by bus, on foot, by ferry - all visa free.
