About:China Customs Declaration

USD + RMB or otherwise?

How should I understand the rule for duty-free (non-declaration) import of currency into China? Can I bring in 5,000 USD plus 20,000 RMB? Or must the total amount not exceed 5,000 USD, including the 20,000 RMB?

To bring in RMB, it should be no more than CNY20,000 per person; to bring in USD, there is no restriction on the amount but you need to declare it to the customs if bringing more than 5,000 USD.
