About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Nanning overnight entry/exit

Is it OK to LEAVE China at the end of the 240 period on either a Nanning-Hanoi train or bus? Are these ports not eligible?

No, unfortunately, it is not. There is no a single overland border crossing between China and Vietnam that is eligible for either entry or exit (leave) China when traveling on 24/240 hour visa free transit. Currently the only way to travel between China and Vietnam when traveling on 24/240 hour visa free transit is by plane. Hope this helps.
