Current wait times on public holidays

Hello, I have China multi-entry visa, living in HK. I want to take my parents (who are visiting me in HK) to SZ for 2 nights. We plan to cross on Dec 26th (public holiday in HK). Do you guess it will be busy? Wondering what approx wait times could be like? Also which is the best border to cross at - Lo Wu?

Jack, it is never easy to predict, but I would say that the public holiday in Hong Kong will not affect the situation too much because the largest majority of those traveling over the border simply do not need a visa. They travel on Home Return Permit or similar. In other words, you can expect that the visa office at Luohu section of the border will not experience the waiting time longer than on any other day. I would say that the entire procedure will take up to 60 - 70 minutes, visa office processing time included. It could be somewhat longer, but not much. If you want to be quite certain that you will reduce your waiting time, you could think about taking a ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou port in Shenzhen. Like this, you can be practically certain that the waiting time will be quite short. It is somewhat more expensive however not so much since a one way fare in economy class is 70 HKD. You could think about taking a ferry because this is a also so typical Pearl River Delta experience. When you are done with your visit to Shenzhen you can return back to Hong Kong by taking any border crossing and any mean of transport, high speed train included. Have a nice visit to Shenzhen.
