About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24-hour visa free transit for filipino national

My partner (Filipina) and I (UK citizen) plan to travel Cebu-Beijing with Cathay Pacific and Beijing-Ulaanbaatar with Air China the next day (less than 24 hours). She doesn't need a visa for Mongolia. Can I assume (99% certain) that she will be given the 24-hour visa free transit? We will of course have the required documents, including hotel booking in Beijing, we will be polite and, if the authorities are interested, they can see she has been to many Asian countries before, including a visa to Japan. If the chances are, say, only 80%, then we would probably not travel via China.

Part 1:

Paul, your situation is definitely fine and you can be 100% certain that you and your girlfriend will normally perform your travel plan without any issues. The first and the most important detail is that you do not need a visa of any kind because your transit in Beijing will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you will do exactly as you have planned. At the time of your check in Cebu, you will declare that you are traveling to Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) by using 24 hours visa free transit via Beijing. It is advisable to have your flight tickets and your hotel booking reservation printed out. After a short check, you will be allowed to board the plane. Upon your landing in Beijing you will do the following: the first thing that you will do will be to fill out arrival cards. You will tick the box on the arrival card where it is written - transit. After that you will perform automatic fingerprinting. With a filled out arrival card and a fingerprinting receipt you will approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets, filled out arrival card, fingerprinting receipt and your hotel booking confirmation. This is all free of any charge. After a short check you will be granted a temporary entry permit and then you will cross the immigration, collect your luggage and head to the city to have some time on your own and to have an overnight in a hotel in Beijing.

Part 2:

When the time arrives, you will return to the airport to catch your flight to Mongolia. By the way, since you are traveling on Cathay Pacific, it is important to understand that in the eyes of the Chinese immigration authorities you will be arriving from Hong Kong because only the immediate points matter. This is also fine because Hong Kong is considered as an eligible entry/exit point for 24 hour visa free transit. All in all, you are good to go and just remember that you can travel really relaxed. Have a nice journey.
