Shenzhen Visa on arrival

We (a Swiss citizen with Swiss passwort and a Spain citizen with Spanish passwort) want to take the train from Hong Kong to Shenzhen and do a 1-day-trip (meaning arrival and return to Hong Kong on the same day). Is it possible to get a VOA? How can we get one if we're on the train?

Manuel, both of you do not need any kind of visa to perform your planned visit to Shenzhen. Shenzhen VOA is for the citizens of the countries that need a visa to enter mainland China. Since Shenzhen is an integral part of mainland China, you will travel absolutely visa free. As far as the border crossing is concerned you will cross it in Hong Kong West Kowloon station where both Hong Kong and mainland Chinese immigration offices are located. So, when you sit in the train, you will be, de jure, already in mainland China. Also when you return from Shenzhen you will cross the border again at HK WK station at both immigration offices. Again, just forget about the visa since you do not need one. Have a nice visit to Shenzhen.
