About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

uk to chengdu

Heyy, I have a 16 hour layover at Chengdu TFU on the way to Seoul (coming from the UK)

It is overnight, so i'll be booking one of the cheer or joy hotels... Will I need to queue for the 240 hour visa or simply go through immigration and automatically be given the 24 hour one?

I plan to visit Chengdu city the evening to eat and do some really quick sightseeing, so will leave the airport.

Yes, you will definitely need to queue at 24/240 hour visa free transit because you have to receive a temporary entry permit to approach the immigration. This permit comes in a physical form and is essential to be allowed to successfully cross the immigration. The procedure is: upon your landing fill out arrival card and tick the box where it is written - transit. After that perform automatic fingerprinting and take a receipt for that. Approach 24/240 hour visa free transit, present those details and your flight tickets. After a short check, you will be granted a temporary entry permit and when you receive it you will proceed to the immigration and finally to the city and/or the hotel for a good night rest. Have a nice journey.
