About:China Visa Application in UK

British Passport

I bought a return ticket London-Manila-London with long hours lay over at Peking am I allowed to leave the airport and return before the connecting flight? thanks

You are eligible for 24-hour visa free transit. But to leave the airport, you need to apply for a 24h temporary entry permit at the immigration counter, which is a kind of bonus for transit passengers, so not guaranteed. But considering your long layover, the success rate is quite high.
