Travelling around China

I’m a UK passport holder, can I travel around China freely as I am a bit of a wanderlust and want to be able to choose my own itenar.

While, you need a basic itinerary to apply for a China tourist L visa but you can change your travel plan after entry. If you take advantage of the 240h visa-free transit, as least a flight ticket to leave within 10 days and the hotel reservation at the first destination are needed.
