About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

240hr visiting Chongqing/Guangzhou/Beijing/Shanghai US Citizens

Hi, we used the 144hr TWOV in the past and enjoyed touring around single province but now see it's increased to 240hrs and allow crossing provincial boundaries within allowed areas and ports. Just want to ensure I understand correctly as we'd like to stopover in China to visit Chongqing, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, etc using the new 10day visa free transit. Haven't bought our flights but would be something like US(country A) -> flight to either Beijing or Shanghai (domestic travels to Beijing/Chongqing/Guangdong/Shanghai provinces for 9.5days) -> flight to Bangkok(country B). This should be valid itinerary correct?

2nd question is are we then allowed to do another 10day visa free transit on the return leg back to US? For example, Bangkok(country A) -> flight to Kunming (domestic travels to Chengdu/Xian/Zhangjiajie/etc) -> flight to US(country B). This way we get to see more cities and provinces on Asia vacation split between outbound and return legs and not have to pay for visas for our family of 7.

Boun, there is no doubt that you have done your homework and have also perfectly understood the essence of 240 hour visa free transit. This is the reason why I can reply to you in a very short way confirming that your itinerary is eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and also that you have full right to use 240 hour visa free transit twice within a very short time frame. In other words, you can proceed with your travel plans with absolute peace of mind. I wish you pleasant visits to China.
