About:Visa on Arrival

I read somewhere online that there is a limit of number of VOA given in a day. Is this true?

I have Canadian passport. I plan to arrive at 14:30 at Lo Wu and then stay the night in Shenzhen for my weekend visit. Is this possible? I heard people must begin to line up at 7:00 for VOA or risk of them running out.

It seems that a kind of quota really exist, but people begin to line not exactly because of the possible quota, but because to avoid later, longer and more time consuming queues. Also, knowing these details, we have always, on this forum, suggested to future visitors of Shenzhen to be relatively early at the border crossing. By arriving at 14:30 you might be successful, but also you run a risk that your application will not be taken into processing if they have many other applications that will take time to be resolved until 16:30 when the visa office closes. In any case, you can try, but nobody can tell you about your outcome for certain. Maybe you could think about to use a ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou in Shenzhen. There is a visa office there (in Shekou) and if you arrive until 15:30, your chances to be granted a visa are almost guaranteed. In any case, I wish you a success.
