About:How to Travel from Hong Kong to Shenzhen

Turned away from Port Visa at Louhu

I tried to enter Shenzhen from Hong Kong this afternoon on a UK passport. I have obtained a 5-day Visa on arrival before on a previous passport so didn't think it would be an issue. I followed the steps, the officer checked the passport but said I cannot get a visa and gave me a ticket for the visa office in Wan Chai. There were others of different nationalities that were also turned away. Is it true that there is an undisclosed daily quota? Are other ports (Huanggang or Futian) more likely to accept VOA? It all seemed quite arbitrary and the official wouldn't engage when I asked why.

I feel sorry for you. Shenzhen VOA is generous to friends from UK normally but a risk of rejection still exits. The official is sometimes unpredictable. And I think the possibility of each port is the same.
