About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Free Visa Transit for Indonesian Passport holder

Hello, I am a holder of Indonesian passport. On Mei 2025 I will go to Japan by China Eastern Airline and going back to Indonesia by China Southern Airline. I have to layover at Shanghai Pudong 12 hour on my way to Japan and also I have to layover 18 hour at Guangzhou airport. Do I need a visa to layover ? Does this route qualify for 24 hour TWOV?

Well, if I have properly understood you, during your journey from Indonesia to Japan you have two layovers, one in Shanghai and another one in Guangzhou. If I am correct in my understanding, then you are not eligible for 24 hour visa free transit because your total transit time in China exceeds 24 hours. In other words, if you want to travel by using such an itinerary you will have to obtain a Chinese transit (G) visa in advance. As far as your journey from Japan to Indonesia is concerned, I cannot say anything because you have not presented your transit time in China. I'm sorry.
