About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

2 layovers in China, will i need visa?

Hi, I have just bought tickets to go to Manila, transiting China through Shenzen and Shanghai. From my understanding due to the new rules implemented recently we can now cross travel provinces? I'm a UK citizen, also holding a Russian passport. Please can someone help. Really stressed

You should not be in a stress because you will travel through China visa free being it on 24 or 240 hour visa free transit. By the way, you will use that passport you have used to buy your plane ticket.

So, if your total transit time counted from your first landing in China (in your case in Shanghai) until your last departure from China (in your case from Shenzhen) is shorter than 24 hours, you will be covered by 24 hours visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa.

If your total transit time, counted in the same way as the above one, exceeds 24 hours, you will be covered by 240 hour visa free transit. In both cases, you are ready to go absolutely visa free.

When you land in Shanghai, the very first thing that you will do is to approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit. This is free of any charge and here you will present your flight tickets. After a short check, you will be granted a permit and after that you will head to the immigration because your next flight is a domestic one.

As you can see, you will catch your flight to Shenzhen and when you arrive there, you will cross the exit immigration and head to your flight for Manila. Everything absolutely visa free.

Now, I hope you can relax because you really do not need any kind of visa, you are good to go and I wish you a pleasant journey.

Thanks for that. Only stressing because some people were denied boarding here even though they were within 24h timeframe. Also shenzen airlines have booked a free accomodation for the layover. Hopefully I will be allowed to use it.

Now on the way back, I have the same thing but another lady here mentioned the rule 00:00 to 00:00. I hope that won't be the case.
