Visit Shenzhen from Hong Kong

Hello, I am a US citizen with Hong Kong resident ID. I will be visiting Hong Kong with friends and families traveling with US passport. While we are in Hong Kong, we would also like to travel to Shenzhen via train/bus route then ride high speed train from Shenzhen to Guilin and then travel to Macau from Shenzhen. Is this itinerary eligible for 240 house Visa free requirement? Will you please recommend a step by step instructions for the process? Do I need to book everything before I go? Thanks for your help.
