240-hour visa free transit

Is it OK for the new 240-hour visa free transit policy if I travel from UK to Beijing - Xian - Shanghai - Guangzhou or Shenzhen, and then exit China by train to Hong Kong before flying back to UK?

And how do I apply for the "visa free transit"?

Thanks.

Yes, you travel like this under the 240. You will apply for it at the airport in Beijing by showing your passport and the train ticket to leave for HK within 10 days as a proof of no overstay, better with hotel reservation, no other process and documents.
