You and the minor should apply for the tourist visa separately.
Requirements for adults:
Passport with at least 6-month validity
Visa Application Form and Photo
Proof of legal stay or residence status
Documents showing the itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of a hotel reservation, etc. or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity or individual in China.

For minors:
Except for the requirements above, his or her birth certificate; and if she or he travels with one parent, then the other parent should come to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center personally to sign a declaration of consent for the application of Chinese visa and authorization to the other parent to travel with the minor to China.
