Yes, your itinerary is eligible for 240 hour visa free transit - twice.

You should take care that you buy your train ticket from Guangzhou to Hong Kong even before your departure from US. You should print out the train ticket confirmation and have it at hand because you will be asked to present it in both US at the time of your check-in and in Guangzhou when you approach the transit counter immediately upon your landing.

During your second 240 hour visa free transit you should know that you can really take a ferry, but be careful to take Hong Kong to Shekou ferry. Upon your arrival in Shekou, you will present your Guangzhou to Singapore flight ticket.

All in all, you are good to go. Have a very nice journey.

Hello Borut,

My husband pointed out that our flight from Guangzhou to Singapore is actually a layover, with the final destination being the US. Is that still okay?

The itinerary will be: US with layover at Frankfurt, Singapore then to Guangzhou, bullet train from Guangzhou to Hong Kong, ferry from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, and then Guangzhou layover at Singapore then US.

Please let us know. Thank you again.

Yes, it definitely is. When traveling on 240 hour visa free transit only the immediate points before and after your visit to mainland China are taken into consideration regardless of their nature. So, in this case, your immediate point after mainland China is Singapore and not US. In other words, you can proceed with your travel plans with absolute peace of mind.
