Canadian visiting Hong Kong for 12 days. Do I need visa for a day trip to Shenzhen from Hong Kong?

Hi, I'll be traveling to Hong Kong from Canada for 12 days on Nov 25 and return to Canada on Dec 7. I want to have a one day trip to Shenzhen during my stay in Hong Hong. Am I qualified to get the 72-Hour- Visa Free or 144-Hour-Visa Free? If I am not qualified, I will need to apply a visa while I'm in Hong Kong. Is it better to apply the Chinese Visa in Canada? Do I have enough time to apply the Visa since my departure date is Nov 25?Please advise.
Thanks.

If you go back to HK after visit in Shenzhen, then you can not qualified for the 144. You can go to Shenzhen at the end of your travel in HK and fly from Shenzhen to Canada to enjoy the 144. Another choice is to apply a Shenzhen VOA at Luohu, Huanggang or Shekou port at a cost of CNY 130, which, I think, is more convenient. Applying for a visa in HK still works but it takes time, may be 3-4 working days and expedited service costs extra.
