US Citizen traveling for business in S Korea - need China Visa

I am in Korea on business assignment so I'm traveling back and forth from Korea to US. I need to get a Chinese business visa for a trip in about 3 weeks. I don't have time to travel back home to apply for the visa. Can i apply in Seoul as a US Citizen? I don't have residency in Korea but our company does have an office in Korea. I gather that I have to visit a Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Seoul but they are requesting proof of residency or employment in Korea. Would a letter from our Korea office saying I am on assignment in Seoul suffice as proof?

Sorry, I'm afraid of the assignment cannot be a proof of residency. You need to apply for it in the USA.
