About:Visa on Arrival

Cost of VOA if we will be in Shenzhen 31 Dec 2024 - 3 Jan 2025, as US Citizens?

Hello, my family and I are planning to travel from Hong Kong to Shenzhen on 31 Dec, staying until 3 Jan. I see that the VOA fees are reduced to CNY 130 until 31 Dec. If we are arriving on 31 Dec (which means our stay will go beyond the expiration date), will we still be granted the CNY 130 fee, as US citizens? Or will they charge us CNY 971? Thank you for your help!

If you cross the border on December 31st, the price for VOA will be 130 CNY regardless of the fact that you will stay in Shenzhen beyond that date, guaranteed!

You should just plan to arrive at Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing earlier than the opening hours (opening hours are 09:00 - 16:30 in order to beat the later queues. Please, have in mind that you are expected to pay the visa fee by card and not in cash.

The alternative to Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing would be to take a ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou port in Shenzhen, but taking care of the fact about the opening times of Shekou visa office: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 16:30.

When you are done with your visit to Shenzhen, you can return to Hong Kong by taking any border crossing and any mean of transport, high speed train included.
