About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Temporary Entry Permit

Hi, I am travelling from UK-Shanghai-Bangkok with husband and 3 children. We have long layovers - 17hrs outbound and 21hrs inbound. I am hoping to obtain temporary entry permits to allow us rest time in hotel and possibly some sightseeing outside of the airport. Realistically, how likely is it we will be successful in obtaining these? I have read really differing things!

Your chances are really very good or to be more specific - they are excellent. Entry permits will be granted to you, you will see.

So, immediately upon your landing in Shanghai, the first thing you will do is to approach 24/144 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets and your hotel accommodation booking. This application is free of any charge and after a short check, you will be granted a permit. After a permit has been granted, you will head to the immigration and then to the hotel or to the city for sightseeing.

Just be relaxed, it will be all fine. Have a nice journey.
