Transit from Hong Kong to ShenZhen

Do you need to go through additional border control and immigration checks after landing at Hong Kong international airport and travelling directly on to Shenzhen? Will a Visa be required for an overnight stay?

No, to Shenzhen directly from HKIA, you don't have to go through the checks of HK if you plan to take a ferry at Skypier to Shenzhen. Australian passport holders do not need a visa to Mainland China for a stay of no more than 15 days.
