About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

144 hour to Guangzhou via Shekou

If I'm originating from Hong Kong (not starting from airport but stayed there for few days already), how can I take ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou? Skypier seem to be for airport transiting passengers only.

Also would the following itinerary work: Macau ferry to Shekou Port - get 144 hour TWOV at Shekou - Guangzhou via train - exit China via Hong Kong West Kowloon?

Skypier is not in a combination at all.

In order to enjoy 144 hour visa free transit in Guangdong province you can exactly that itinerary that you have suggested. Of course, you can use a ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou without any problem as well and end your journey in Macau.

So, if you depart from Macau, you can really take a ferry to Shekou, but you should have in mind that you will have to buy your train ticket that will take you from either Guangzhou or Shenzhen to Hong Kong West Kowloon station. That ticket has to be in your hands even before taking a ferry from Macau to Shenzhen. It is the best to print out a confirmation of that ticket and have that printout with you.

When you arrive in Shekou, you will present that train ticket and when your temporary entry permit is granted, you are free to move, explore and stay within the entire Guangdong province. Please, just have in mind that you will really have to take exactly that train that you have bought your ticket for.

If you enter Guangdong province from Hong Kong by ferry to Shekou or Nansha, you will have to exit to Macau by a ferry from Shekou to Macau. Enjoy your journey.
