About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Stay in Guangzhou for 5 nights

Hi, I am an Australian passport holder, will be visiting Ho Chi Minh (4 nights), then Guangzhou (5 nights), then Tokyo (8 nights) in March 2024. I believe I am eligible for the 144 transit permit without visa in Guangzhou. I have booked and paid for all the flights (different airlines with direct flights) and accommodation in each city. I don't have all my bookings in one itinerary, but have each airline's confirmed tickets and seat numbers. I don't have a visa to Japan as I am qualified for visa free entry. Am I eligible for the 144 transit permit? Will I be denied entry to China because I don't have a visa to Japan and an itinerary for my entire trip?

Your itinerary, under the condition that you have mentioned all the stops within your itinerary, is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Also, nobody will deny entry to China because Chinese authorities are well aware that Australian citizens do not need a visa for Japan. Also, you are allowed to move around and explore entire Guangdong province during your stay there. Have a nice journey.
