S2 visa double entries or L visa double entries

My parents are going to come to china for a total period of 19days and during their stay in china i will go with them to malaysia for a short trip of 7 days and then come again to china. Is applying for residence permit necessary for S2 visa holders during their stay in China and enter China twice?
Im a student currently studying in china and my wife has work visa. please advise me

S2 visa holders are not able to apply for a residence permit as the duration of stay is no more than 180 days. Holding a S2 visa, they can enter China multiple times.
