About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Day trip to GZ from HK

I would like to meet up with a friend in GZ. Im currently in Vacation in HK and do not have a Chinese visa, I have a US passport. Is my only option to fly to GZ then take a ferry to Macau then back to HK to qualify for 24 hour TWOV? Or can I get the visa exempt at the port or train station.

The only way is to fly to Guangzhou and after that by ferry (from Shekou in Shenzhen) to Macau. When you return to Macau, you can return to Hong Kong.

Please, have in mind that between your arrival in Guangzhou and your departure to Macau at least a minute longer than 24 hours have elapse in order to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. You should not rely on 24 hour visa free transit, but your stay within mainland China should be just a bit longer than 24 hours. Please, have this detail in mind.
