Entry for X2 Visa

I read somewhere that for X2 visa, you can only enter 3 days prior from when your semster starts. Is this correct?The semester starts in September, but I wanted to enter the country in Augut to visit family first.

I didn't find regulations about the entry time. Usually, you can enter China anytime once you have a valid visa.
