About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa Free Transition in Shanghai

Hi, my husband (US visa, living in New Zealand) and I (New Zealand visa) are travelling to Shanghai from Hong Kong, (staying approx. 26hrs) to then board a cruise ship for a 7day trip to Japan, returning to Shanghai (staying approx. 37hrs) before heading back to NZ. Would we be eligible for the visa free transit for both stays?

Yes, of course. Both your itineraries are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in wider Shanghai area and you do not need any kind of visa. By the way, you have written US and New Zealand visas, but I assume that you carry US and New Zealand passports :)
